A hat trick of wins, all from pole position, gave Jonathan du Toit (Trans Africa Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO) the overall and GT3 class wins at Zwartkops Raceway in the third round of the 2025 Extreme Supercars driven by Dunlop championship held on 20 and 21 June. Du Toit was joined on the overall podium by Gianni Giannoccaro (G&H Transport/Sparco Nissan GTR R35 GT3) and Class A winner Kris Budnick (Bucketlist Composites Dodge Viper).

Qualifying took place shortly before 10h00 on Saturday morning, and both du Toit and Charl Arangies (Stradale Motorsport Porsche GT3R) dipped under the 1-minute mark around the 2.4km Zwartkops circuit, with du Toit getting the better of Arangies to claim pole position. Gianni Giannoccaro headed the second row of the grid alongside Paul Hill (Kalex Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO). Budnick and Ricky Giannoccaro (G&H Transport Mercedes AMG GT3) filled the third row ahead of Wayne Roach (Sambone Lamborghini Gallardo) and Elwyn Steenkamp (Jeys Consultants BMW M4), who was making a welcome return to the series after a long absence while developing his M4. Uli Sanne (G&H Transport BMW Z4) and Jimmy Giannoccaro (G&H Racing Porsche) rounded out the grid.
In the opening heat, du Toit grabbed the lead from pole position and, while Arangies got close at times, went on to take a comfortable win. Gianni Giannoccaro came home in a somewhat lonely third place. Paul Hill looked to have things under control in Class A, but a spin around half-distance allowed Budnick and Ricky Giannoccaro through to take the top two spots in Class A. Hill had to settle for sixth on the road and third in Class A. Roach had an easy run to the Class B win after Steenkamp was forced to stop his BMW after just a couple of laps. Sanne and Jimmy Giannoccaro rounded out the finishers.

On the way to the start of the second heat, Arangies’ Porsche developed a massive vibration, which forced him into the pits. Unfortunately, his crew was unable to remedy the problem before the start, leaving him as a spectator. This left Gianni Giannoccaro to challenge du Toit for the win. While du Toit claimed another victory, Giannoccaro delivered one of his best performances in his Nissan, finishing less than a second behind the Lamborghini. Hill, in third overall, took Class A from Budnick and Ricky Giannoccaro. Hard work between races by Steenkamp’s crew got his car ready for the second heat. He gave the BMW its first Class B win, coming home in sixth place ahead of Roach. Sanne and Jimmy Giannoccaro again rounded out the field.

In the day’s final heat, Arangies hounded du Toit after getting past Gianni Giannoccaro on the fourth lap, but du Toit was just able to hold the Porsche off to take his third win of the day. Arangies had to settle for second ahead of Gianni Giannoccaro. Ricky Giannoccaro took his first Class A win in the Mercedes, holding off Hill and Budnick to take a hard-earned victory. Steenkamp to Class B from Roach, while Sanne and Jimmy Giannoccaro did not make the start.
Du Toit’s three wins gave him GT3 honours for the day from Gianni Giannoccaro and Arangies. Budnick took Class A ahead of Ricky Giannoccaro and Paul Hill, while newcomer Roach headed Class B ahead of Steenkamp. Sanne and Jimmy Giannoccaro took Classes C and D, respectively.
The Extreme Supercars, driven by Dunlop, next scheduled outing is at Cape Town’s Killarney International Raceway on 12 and 13 September.
