After an extended winter break, the Extreme Supercars driven by Dunlop get their final part of their 2025 championship underway when they make their way to Cape Town’s Killarney International Raceway for the fourth round of their 2025 championship on 12 and 13 September.
Business commitments will keep Kris Budnick (Bucketlist Composites Dodge Viper), who leads both the overall and Class A championship standings, away from Cape Town this weekend, opening up the possibility that GT3 class leader Jonathan du Toit (Trans Africa Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO) could leave the Western Cape with the overall championship lead.
In the GT3 class, du Toit will face competition from Gianni Giannoccaro (Sparco/BISC Transport Nissan GTR R35 GT3) and Charl Arangies, who will be back in the Stradale Motorsport Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO after competing in a Porsche earlier this year. Arangies has a 27-point deficit to make up on du Toit, with Gianni Giannoccaro a further six points back.
With Class A leader Budnick and second-place man Paul Hill not making the trip to Killarney, Ricky Giannoccaro (G&H Transport Lamborghini Huracan GT3) could take the class lead. To do so, he will have to fend off the attentions of Marius Jackson (MJR Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3) and series newcomer Charl Visser in the Charl Engineering Porsche GT3.
In Class B, Mark du Toit makes a welcome return to the series at the wheel of a Trans Africa Racing Ford GT. He will be trying to stop Ant Blunden, who will be having his first outing in the G&H Transport/ SAJCO Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, from extending his lead at the top of the class standings.
Jimmy Giannoccaro (G&H Transport Audi R8 GT4) looks to have things all his own way in Class C, but that could change once some of the Cape Town drivers, who have entered the series for the first time, set lap times that will see them allocated to classes. They include Weylin Volschenk (IMC-SA Porsche 997.1 Cup), Brett Swanevelder (Wespunt Printers Nissan 350Z), Simeon Penev (Nissan 350 Z), Mike Verrier (NDT Racing BMW Z4M), Wayne Hoffman (Hoffman Property Group Porsche GT3), Marcel Angel (Autohaus Angel Ferrari GT3) and Yanni Hatzi (Nissan S14).
A couple of practice sessions on Friday will allow the drivers to get their cars ready for qualifying, which is scheduled to take place at 16h15 on Friday afternoon. Saturday will see them tackle three heats, all over ten laps. The first of those will get the day’s racing programme underway at 09:50 with the second at 11:40. The third heat should start at 15:15.
